WHAT IS AN ARTICULATION DISORDER?

Someone with an articulation disorder has difficulty saying the sounds of speech clearly. An articulation disorder can present at an early age for reasons that are not always obvious, or it can occur following an injury to the brain or to the speech mechanism directly. For example, - Injury to the brain or to nerves outside the brain that control the muscles of speech. - Changes in muscle development or function affecting the ability to speak the different sounds of speech

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO YOUR THERAPISTS HAVE?

All of our therapists have completed a clinical Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology, carry the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, which must be renewed yearly, and are licensed by the State of Minnesota, which requires renewal every two years. Our therapists are members of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as the Minnesota Speech and Hearing Association (MNSHA), and we stay abreast of new information and new technologies in order to provide the latest and most up-to-date techniques that have proven to be effective.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL TO BE SEEN IN YOUR CLINIC?

Most of our clients are referred by their physician. Most insurance coverages require a doctor’s order before they will pay for treatment.

DO YOU OFFER TELETHERAPY?

Yes! We are experienced at providing teletherapy and we will work together to determine if teletherapy will be a supportive option for you.

WHAT TYPES OF CLIENTS DO YOU SEE?

We see toddlers, school age children, and adults. We treat a range of diagnoses or disorders. We provide speech therapy for Faribault, Northfield, Owatonna, and the surrounding areas.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

We accept all insurance coverages including Medicare and Medicaid. You can call your insurance to check on your benefits for speech therapy or we can check your insurance for you.

CAN I CALL YOU DIRECTLY IF I HAVE A CONCERN OR DO I NEED TO SEE MY DOCTOR FIRST?

You can call us without having seen your doctor first. We will help you set up a doctor visit in order to get a medical diagnosis and a referral for speech therapy.

DO YOU PROVIDE TREATMENT USING ALTERNATIVE AND AUGMENTATIVE COMMUNICATION APPROACHES AND SPEECH GENERATING DEVICES?

Yes! We help design picture communication notebooks and we train clients to use speech generating devices, or SGDs, such a TobiiDynavox or a Lingraphica device that can be activated by touch, by activating a switch or switches, or by using eye-gaze.
